5 Hidden Food Gems in Ubi Area

Do you know TravelClef often hold public workshops teaching the ukulele/keyboard on Saturday afternoons?

(Follow our Facebook page for updates on our public workshops!)

Some of you may want to have lunch before coming or dinner after the workshop, but think that there is probably nothing much to choose from in this industrial estate?

Go ahead and make your lunch/dinner appointment today! Because we are going to reveal a few great places to dine at!

These places are within walking distance from Tai Seng MRT station, unless otherwise stated!

1. Knots Café and Living

Address: 160 Paya Lebar Rd, #01-07 Orion@Paya Lebar Singapore 409022

Nearby MRT station(s): Macpherson.

Price point: Above $10 for main dishes

People may pass by Knots, thinking it is a home décor showroom.

Actually a unique “nursery-themed” café opened by florist chain Xpressflower.com, it’s an ideal place to calm your mind and your growling stomach!

You can expect a 20-minute wait during lunchtime, but thankfully the dishes came out relatively quickly after the first one arrived. For an indulgent meal at a cafe, the price for the mains, which already includes taxes, is rather reasonable!

2. Everton Creamery

Address: 30 Tai Seng Street #02-01A BreadTalk IHQ Singapore 534013

Price point: $4.80 and above

What better dessert than the classic ice cream? Everton Creamery has a variety of classic and unconventional flavours, and the ice cream itself has a creamy texture.

Their pastel themed furnishing appeals to the young minds and gives off a "chill vibe"!

For a single scoop for ice cream, it is a little costly. If you are really craving for something sweet and cold, go for it! Make sure to try the various flavours so you find the one worth your $4.80!

3. Liao Fan Hawker Chan

Address: 18 Tai Seng #01-02, 18 Tai Seng Street, (S)539775

Price point: $3 and above

Humbly beginning in Chinatown Complex, Liao Fan Hawker Chan is a food chain awarded with one Michelin star. They are famed for their soya sauce chicken- people used to form a snaking queue just for that!

You can expect quite a long queue during lunch hour and waiting time of 10 minutes or more after ordering your food. You may be a little difficult to find a table too if you are coming in a big group.

Besides that, the food is really good and for an air-conditioned food place, prices are very reasonable.

4. The Boneless Kitchen

Address: 1 Irving Place #01-31, The Commerze@Irving, Singapore 369546

Price point: $9.90 and above for mains (Prices on menu includes tax)

They pride themselves for being the first vegetarian Korean restaurant in Singapore. If you are a vegetarian or just a non-meat lover, be sure to check this place out!

However, it is a little hard to find unless you know the area! Also, if you are planning to dine there, be sure to make reservations! You’ll definitely need to wait (at least 30 min) if you go there without booking.

The food took quite a short time to arrive, and there is sufficient variety for a simple meal

5. Meats N Malts

Address: 30 Tai Seng Street #01-07. BreadTalk IHQ, Singapore, 534013

Looking for a place to chill after work? Meats N Malts may just be the place for you and your colleagues are looking for a cozy spot to chat after a long day at work!

Located conveniently around 3 minutes away from Tai Seng, it is a casual place for you and your colleagues to have a meal and some drinks!

We know how difficult it is to find good food in Ubi, but actually there are many other hawker centres/canteens here that sells delicious food!

Next time you visit our office area (or office for workshops!), rest assured that you will have a place to fill your stomach!
